NaNoWriMo and What I'm Writing...

Hello again!

This blog post is both an informative one and a personal one. So let's get started!

First off, NANOWRIMO IS COMING! If you do not already know, NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is an entire month dedicated to writing 50k words in a month, and takes place in November of every year. They also have a CAMP NANOWRIMO which takes place in April and July of every yea, with the same goal in mind.

I, personally, have participated twice (once in the traditional NaNoWriMo and again in Camp) and both times I have won (those books I talked about last time? Yeah, those were the ones I wrote in those two months).

My first book, which I wrote in November of 2013, is called Subject 1815195, and it is a futuristic retelling of Sleeping Beauty with conspiracies and action and romance all mixed into one. I, at first, planned for it to be a series, but then saw that I didn't know how I was going to extend it as much, and decided for it to be a standalone (which is a shame because I had an awesome title for the sequel [Subject to Change]). The accumulative word count of this book was 47, 526 words.

My second book, which I wrote in April of 2014, is called All Of My Beautiful Wickedness, and it is a "sequel" to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum. Basically, it is where Dorothy is now sixteen and in an insane asylum, but is then transported back to Oz and finds out the Wicked Witches (both of them) survived, and have taken back control. That one was my favorite of the two, for two reasons: 1) I was really into the story and didn't have as much writer's block as I did the first go-around. 2) The accumulative word count was 60, 413 words in all (and I still wrote it in that 30 day guideline).

For this November, I am planning on writing yet another book! The thing is, I don't know what the hell I'm going to write about...I was thinking about doing fantasy, but the issue is, I have no idea how to do that. Any advice? Because I have this awesome (to me) idea about dragons and magic that I really want to write.

So, what are you guys planning on writing for NaNoWriMo (if you are participating, that is [which you definitely should!])?

The Beginning...

Well, hello there reader-of-this-blog! My name is Kameron B. Moore and I am a writer at heart. I don't believe there is anything else in this world I would rather do than write to my heart's content. And if anybody tries to take that away from me, y'all won't see the light of day...

Okay, that was a bit scary, but true all the same.

Anyways, this blog is meant for me to document my journey in writing, life, high school, and everything that falls into those categories. But this blog will mostly focus on writing, as it is called A Writerly Journey. Okay, so now that we have the function this blog is going to serve as, I would also like to introduce myself a little bit, and also tell you readers out there, what I am willing to share here...

First, the introductions:

As I said before, my name is Kameron B. Moore and I am a Freshman in high school. Yes, that does make me quite young to some, but I can assure you that I have an old soul, and understand aspects of the world that others do not. In my writing career, I have written two full-length novels in two separate months, and two short-stories for English.

Those two full-length novels were both written during NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo, respectively. They were both huge accomplishments of mine, and they are the first two books I've ever written in my life.

The two short-stories, as I said, were written for English class, and both of them got perfect grades, and both teachers have said that they hope to see a book of mine on the shelves of Barnes & Noble one day. Well, I hope for that too someday...

Since I am in high school, that means that I am just one step closer to going to college, which will be one step closer to LIFE. My life-goal--for now--is to have at least one book published, or more, by the time I start applying to colleges. Yes, this is a big goal that I may or may not accomplish, but I hope that now that I have written it down and it is on the Internet now, I will now try my best to accomplish this.

Okay, now on to what I am willing to share with the world:

With this blog, I am not going to share names of my friends, where I live, who my parents are, or anything like that. I have created fake names for each of these things, and I plan on not using them quite so much. This is because the focus of this blog is my writing career. If life wants interject now and again, I'll tell you about it. Otherwise, nada!

Alright, I believe that about sums up what I wanted to say...OH! But wait, there's more...

I am planning on updating this blog at least once a week, if not, once every two weeks. I have school, and I don't want to fail my classes just so I can keep this blog up and running. So if I take a hiatus, I don't want there to be comments saying: "Where are you?"

NOW I am done...

I'll see you next time on A Writerly Journey
